Irene LoRe
Ms. LoRe started her career as a NYC school teacher and received her MS from Teachers College, Columbia University. She also holds degrees in school administration and an MBA from Baruch. She served in Cartagena, Colombia for two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer running a training program for secondary school teachers.
Community involvement has been a constant component of Irene’s life. She is committed to making things better in her Park Slope community where she has lived for over 30 years. She is a Director of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, served on Community Board 6 for almost 20 years and was its chair for four years. Additionally, she has served on many community and business committees and supported many civic initiatives in Park Slope. Over the years she has received several awards acknowledging her work in the community.
Since 1982 Ms LoRe has been actively engaged in restaurant and related businesses.
She and her partner Pat Kelly are the owner operators of Aunt Suzie’s Restaurant on Fifth Avenue. She was one of the first to venture to 5th in 1987 to open a business and is considered a pioneer in the development of Fifth Avenue. LoRe feels that because she is a business owner in the BID, she knows firsthand the difficulties facing small businesses especially during the downturn we are suffering right now. Irene is dedicated to the success of the BID believing that it can take Fifth Avenue to a new level of development and success.
