A Business Improvement District is a nonprofit that supplements — never replaces — city services. Here's the concrete work our team does along 5th Avenue in Park Slope every day of the year.
Sidewalk & Street Cleaning
Our Block by Block crew sweeps 5th Avenue and its side streets, empties overflowing trash bins, removes graffiti, and clears snow at the corners — every day of the year.
Trees & Streetscape
We order replacements through the City's street tree program, request bike racks and benches for merchants, hang holiday lights from Dean to 18th, and light the sign at the entrance to the avenue near Barclays.
Events on the Avenue
The Fabulous 5th Avenue Fair, Brooklyn Pride, Small Business Saturday, Tree Lighting, and the Menorah Lighting, plus the smaller neighborhood moments in between.
Small Business Support
Free connections to ADA compliance help, legal clinics, NYC SBS, PACE SBDC, and the Small Business Resource Network. When something goes wrong on your block, we pick up the phone.
Advocacy
Standing up for independent merchants with the DOT, DOB, City Hall, and the community board — including the ongoing 5th Avenue Streetscape Visioning work.
Park Slope Gift Card
A MasterCard-powered gift card redeemable only at participating small businesses on 5th Ave, 7th Ave, and in Gowanus. Every dollar stays local.

Fabulous 5th Avenue Fair
20-block street fair from Sterling to 12th Street. Local bands, local fare, amusements.
June
Brooklyn Pride
Partner sponsor of the street fair (Union to 9th) and the evening parade from Sterling to 9th.
Nov
Small Business Saturday & Tree Lighting
Promotions along 5th Ave culminating in the tree lighting at 4th St and 5th Ave, plus Santa letters.
Dec
Menorah Lighting
Food, games, and lighting the menorah with neighbors.
